Blogcatalog Widget Removed

I posted earlier about the Blogcatalog latest visitors widget which was only showing after a page refresh. Others confirmed that fact as well. So I posted on Blogcatalog's forums and received no joy, or even a reply.

Now it seems the widget is not showing at all. So until Blogcatalog can get their act together then it's been removed.

Oh, and they're annoying me with messages in my inbox about 'Expose Yourself!' I think it's one of their schemes but I ask you! Tsk, tsk.

Comments

  1. I mark those messages on BlogCatalog as spam -- I do that with any messages I see there that I've seen on other blogs, especially when the person leaving the message hasn't visited my blog (as shown by the widget!)

  2. its the sound of bloggers finally getting the exposure that they deserve. BC's sole purpose is to expose hardworking, talented bloggers who don't do the tour circuit and are working their behinds off to express themselves, and they don't get the exposure.

BlogCatalog is going to change it. BlogCatalog will become the place where when people think blogging they think about blogcatalog. And, members of blogcatalog will be direct beneficiaries of that because we will enable bloggers to both elegantly monetize their hard work, as well as obtain far more readers and followers.

Mark my words. It's coming sooner than you think.

  3. given that you keep MyBlogLog's widget on your blog, and its run by Yahoo, who has let the site go to the birds. It's amazing that you would take the advice of someone to remove blogcatalog's widget when our entire focus is on making the blogosphere more valuable for bloggers. Especially non-a list bloggers, which I assume you are.

  4. In the end, all the schemes come down to the quality of the blogposts. One can be feted for a good article on a Monday but after tosh for two days, readers fall away and don't tend to come back for days or weeks.

We're only as good as our last post.

  5. But these messages just appear in my inbox, with no explanation of what they are. TonyB keeps sending these messages about some blog exposing themselves. I have no idea what this means and it gets annoying after one or two of the same.

  6. I think that Blogcatalog's latest visitors widget has been extremely useful in allowing me to discover new blogs and bloggers. I hink Steve Hayes finds it the same? However, the widget isn't working and now there are a number of messages the same on Blogcatalog with no response from those running Blogcatalog.

As to 'A' list bloggers, beauty is in the eye of the beholder!

  7. I do that with my own posts! I do come back though sooner though.

The Upper Rooms

We often think of the 'upper room' as being the place where Jesus and the Disciples held the Last Supper but the Bible has many more 'upper rooms'.

Sound familiar?

Watching the BBC interview of Adele by Graham Norton tonight and Adele sang one of the new tracks off her forthcoming album. The track was called A Million Years Ago. Listening to it reminded me of a different song by someone else. You know where you almost recognise a tune but get lost with the words, yet it's the words which are the key! Eventually it came to me, El Shaddai by Michael Card, famously sung by Amy Grant. It's a song that I occasionally play during worship. Have a listen. What do you think?

Distant Pics of St Michael's Abbey

Seems that every Saturday when I take Charlie for a walk we stop and look at the sheep, and St Michael's Abbey at Farnborough. Well I say 'we' but I really mean me. Charlie is far too busy rooting round in the undergrowth for something to eat. Met a man who was working on the boundary fence from the inside. He was repairing a 'doorway' that had been cut in the mesh fence. Was probably going to be used to enable something of a reasonable size to be pilfered from somewhere in the monastery grounds, or even a sheep. Pray for the monastery, Abbey, those who have their vocation there and those who labour in support. And also pray for those who vandalise and steal from this wonderful place. The guided tours they do on a Friday are worth it as well and is also an opportunity for them to be supported. Monastery with crooked cross and dome of the Abbey Baa! Someone's been at it with the filters again
